A and I took an impromptu trip to Rome midway through our week – stay tuned for my posts about Rome. We got back into Paris on an early morning flight, freshened up, and wasted no time to hit the ground running again. We only had 3 more days left so we needed to make every last minute count.
We explored the 8th arrondissement then walked up Avenue des Champs-Élysées to check out Arc de Triomphe. Of all my times in Paris, I had never actually gone to the top of the Arc. A and I opted to take the stairs to the top. Being the out-of-shape old lady that I am, it was a real struggle but definitely worth the climb. After taking in the breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower and the rest of Paris, we decided that we should walk back to the Eiffel Tower again. Standing from the top, we thought it was only going to be a short little stroll. Turned out, we were wrong…
By late afternoon, we decided to head out to the northern section of the city to visit the Montmartre district which is a large hill in Paris’s 18th arrondissement. This district is primarily known for the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur – which is the highest point of the city – and the famous Moulin Rouge. It was such a beautiful and charming district. The streets were quieter, there were cute pastel homes, big hills, steep staircases, cute cafés and winding little streets. A and I were sad to discover this district near the end of our trip. There was so much more we wanted to visit and explore but we were exhausted and it was getting late. I guess just another reason for us to come back to Paris 😉

A was looking forward to visiting the Crypt underneath Sacré-Cœur but we just missed it and they were closed. I can’t say that made me sad =P
