Hard to believe that we are past the halfway mark of the year already. Since the theme of things has been that time simply moves too fast, I am hardly shocked but just simply embracing the whirlwind. The first half of this year has been fast and furious. Ever since our trip to Southeast Asia in May, it seems like everything has been go, go, go. In June, we flew to the east coast to spend a weekend in Toronto and Montreal. For the first two weeks of July, my parents-in-law were visiting us in Calgary. Ever since they left, it feels like we’ve been playing catchup, getting back into our routine, and going through the motions to check off those growing to-do lists.
Under any other circumstances, I would be sad that summer is slowly coming to a close. But, as much as I savoured the first half of the year, I will say that I am just as excited for the second half. We’re going on our first camping trip together in September, off to London and Italy in October, and we’re trying to brew up a fun trip for the holidays.
With so much on the horizon, I am embracing a slower paced August but eager for the rush of Fall. Heading into August long weekend, A and I plan to have no plans. I’m looking forward to trying a new coffee shop, having a picnic to catch up on some reading, continue filling in the details of our trips, and maybe even an impromptu trip out of the city for a hike in the mountains.
Hope you all have a wonderful long weekend! xx
